The Carpenters Arms

The Carpenters Arms is a quintessential British pub based in Camberley. Located on Park Street they offer a decent selection of real ales and offer a menu of tasty pub grub with meals and snacks suitable for lunchtimes. The pub features TV screens around the venue and is welcoming for all the family.

    Carpenters Arms - Saturday Lunchtime

Well we decided to try the Carpenter's Arms this Saturday for a light lunch. I've probably walked past it a 1000 times over the years and not paid it much attention, but I was actually quite pleasantly surprised. It was busy without being crowded and service at the bar was friendly and swift. Three real ales were on hand pump, IPA, London Pride and our localish Hog's Back TEA. I had a pint of the latter which tasted perfect. Clearly a football pub, with TV screens in every corner the larger more dining orientated area was quite pleasant with minimal noise from the TVs. The pub (certainly at lunchtime) was clearly family friendly with groups of all ages enjoying food and drink. We chose lighter bites today from the quite extensive menu: chicken and bacon baguette, focaccia with crayfish, houmous and flat bread, and croque monsieur with side salad. We were warned the food would be about 15 minutes and it was slightly later than this because they realised at the last minute that they have forgotten the houmous, but they brought the hot food out promptly and followed up quite quickly with the missing houmous. Still it was worth waiting for, everything was very tasty and there were ample condiments for those that need them! Prices seemed quite reasonable especially given the quality of the food. So I think we can safely say we will be back another time when we have a shopping trip over lunch, although I think I could happily pop in for a pint anytime.
