@macman1061 You seem to have some inside knowledge of the football club. Can you really confirm that when the contract with Watchetts School expires, the club won't be tempted to move the tournaments to where they control the land and have a lovely new clubhouse?

At the moment a number of sunday league teams based in Surrey and Hampshire play their cup finals at Camberley football club in Krooner Road. These may only happen at the end of the season, but none the less happen over a couple of weekends and go on all weekend. There also don't need to be youth tournaments going on for the traffic to build up. As I understand it the youth teams will be practising and playing on the pitches on Crabtree Park. This will add up to a lot of families descending on the Park most weekends.

In reply to CamberleyTown. The club holds one Youth Tournament a year spread over two weekends which will continue to be held at Watchetts School. So yes I can imagine that there will be no day-long tournaments at the Park

The new planning application just in has a very detailed report on likely increases in traffic. It very carefully calculates that in normal use, the 5-a-side pitches won't have much impact on local traffic. Sounds great until you realise that they've not included users of the proposed gym or the five additional pitches in the park. And oddly there's no mention of traffic on tournament days. Can you really imagine there will be no day-long tournaments on those football pitches?

It may sound a bit one sided but this is going to affect everyone living in the local area. Camberley Town are only supplying a car park for 100 cars. If there is any over flow from that only a small amount will be able to park in Wilton Road the rest will be parking on Crabtree Estate and walking through. It may sound extreme but if there is a gym and offices as proposed then 100 spaces isn't very many. Also if all of the youth teams are going to use the pitches to practice and play on then on a Saturday or Sunday it could get very crowded. Wilton Road also gets very busy at the weekend now with the dump being there and often the overflow blocks Frimley Road. Imagine if 2 or 3 youth teams worth of boys families are trying to get down there at the same time. This is all beside the fact that Crabtree Park used to be a dump not so long ago. There used to be football pitches on top until glass started turning up with natural wear and tear. How far down will they really have to dig to stop this being a problem? Then there's drainage. At the moment the Crabtree Estate drains into a ditch at the side of the railway. Will this still be able to cope once the new development is there? It may sound like a group of people moaning because of the loss of their park but actually there are a lot more issues here.
