Following an extensive investigation across parts of Surrey and Hounslow, Surrey Heath Borough Council has fined a company for fly tipping in Windlesham.

Builders waste and rubbish illegally dumped at Rye Grove, Windlesham.
Builders waste and rubbish was illegally dumped at Rye Grove and amongst the materials were documents that helped trace the company responsible. These were followed up by environmental health officers from the council which led to a number of individuals and a waste company being handed fixed penalty notices totalling £540.
The Council receives 330 reports of fly tips every year and clears away another 700.
Fly tippers can be prosecuted under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 or the Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005 and can face hefty fines or even a prison sentence.
James Robinson, Senior Environmental Health Practitioner for the council, said: “Any contractor employed to do building work must have a carrier’s licence to transport waste.
“It’s also up to householders who are having work done like double glazing, new kitchens and bathrooms to ensure that any contractor they employ has this licence otherwise they too could face legal action.”
Portfolio holder for community, Councillor Vivienne Chapman says: “Fly tips are unsightly, can be dangerous and are expensive to clear up. This case highlights that people who dump rubbish in this way will be caught and punished.”
If you spot anybody dumping waste illegally in Surrey Heath, please report them to the council on 01276 707330. Where possible give details of the vehicle’s number plate, make, model and any writing/slogans that might be on the side.
