Camberley Town FC is planning to

invest in a new clubhouse, sporting and recreational facilities at Krooner Park, Wilton Road and Crabtree Recreation Ground.   The club is currently based at Krooner Park (its home for over 80 years) and is

planning to relocate to a new pitch with a new clubhouse immediately adjacent

to the existing ground on Crabtree Recreation Ground.  It is then intending to redevelop the old Krooner Park ground as a five-a-side football

centre.  The club hopes then to provide

new mini grass football pitches on Crabtree Rec for community use.

The club is holding a public

exhibition on Friday 2nd July (2pm – 8pm) and Saturday 3rd

July (10.00am – 2.00pm) at The Clubhouse, Krooner Park,

Wilton Road,

Camberley and would like to hear your views.

The plans will be on display and a member of the project team will there

to answer any questions you may have.

The club has engaged the services of

Local Dialogue to help with the consultation process and for further

information can contact them on 0845 262 0138 or email simon.lawrence@localdialogue.com.  Camberley Town FC has also set up a Facebook

page “Camberley Town FC Consultation” where you can take part in a visitor

survey.  There are three sections to the

survey, one finding about how much you use the Recreation Ground and what

for,  the second part asking about the

current club facilities and whether you attend matches at Krooner Park

and finally information about yourself.

What are your views?  After England's so far dismal progress at the World Cup (I am writing this before Wednesday afternoon's match - so maybe they will lift our spirits with a win) maybe newer, better facilities for our local clubs will find the England stars of the future!

Opposition in the local area to these plans is very strong from all corners of the community. The comment below about numbers at the public meeting is broadly correct. The hall was over it's capacity with approximately 130 people coming along and with no voices of support for the developer's plans.

The Friends of Crabtree Park is a group formed by and for users of Crabtree Park and local residents. We are dedicated to the protection, preservation and maintenance of Crabtree Park as an informal green space and place of natural beauty for the use and benefit of the whole community. We have produced a great deal of information clarifying the devastating impact we feel current plans would have on Crabtree Park which can be found on our website: http://tinyurl.com/27qvebe

I agree, it would take a hell of a lot for the council to allow the club to expand the stadium. It would be a complete PR disaster for them to boot.

Somewhere between 110 and 130 people attended the public meeting against the clubs plans. That's really good given that the hall only has a capacity of 100! Absolutely amazing given that it was a cold day with grey skies and it was drizzling with rain! For so many people to turn out, even on such a miserable day, the total level of opposition to this deal must be devastating. The councillors are going to look pretty stupid if they let the club go any further with this.

I see the story has made the BBC local news now. Does anyone know how many people were at the public meeting? http://tinyurl.com/282jpct

The other evening I was wandering along the edge of the park. It was pleasant peaceful and somewhat of a sanctuary in this hectic life. Do we really want to lose this green space for ultimately a money making scheme to make the few richer and the rest poorer both spirituall and in the pocket. I won't even mention increase traffic, noise, loss of habitat etc. etc.
