Surrey Heath Young Musician of the Year 2010

Camberley Theatre. If you play the trumpet, trombone, piano, flute, clarinet,
oboe, guitar, saxophone or any other instrument and would like to take part you
will need to complete the entry form and return it by Thursday 30th
September. The competition is open to
young musicians aged 12 to 18 years old who live or learn within Surrey Heath
Borough. The heats will take place
during October and those who win through the heats will take part in the final
to be held at Camberley Theatre on Saturday 13th November.
There are three sections to the competition:
- Ungraded
- Grades
1 to 4
- Grade
5 and above
and covers the following instruments – wind, strings, keyboard,
percussion and brass. The winners of
each section will be awarded £100 and one of the section winners will be named
as Surrey Heath Young Musician of the Year 2010 and will be awarded an
additional £150. Entry to the
competition is £5 and the entry form can be found on the Surrey Heath Arts
Council website.
The competition was first held in 2008 and the first winner
of the title was Elizabeth Edwards (15) playing the cello. Last year’s winner
was 17 year old pianist Colin Li.
