PJ Wright & Brooks Williams - Ian Goodchild Centre - Tuesday 10th May
The main evening’s entertainment comes in the form of Blues Americana guitarist/ singer and songwriter Brooks Williams who teams up with guitar virtuoso singer-songwriter PJ Wright to bring this exciting duo collaboration to the Camberley Theatre.
Many will know PJ Wright from his duo work with Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention, as the front man of Little Johnny England and as the pedal steel guitarist of The Dylan Project (consisting of Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention and R’n’B legend Steve Gibbons).
Brooks Williams delivers the deepest and most intense interpretations of everything from early blues songs to his recent original compositions. A 24-year veteran of the road, born in Statesboro, Georgia (USA) and now residing in Cambridge England, Williams has toured in the USA, the UK, Canada, Ireland, Turkey and Africa. Brooks Williams is rated one of the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists (#56).
Support is provided by the brilliant Stevie Simpson – One Bloke One Mandolin – whose music Darren Beech from folkin.com describes as somewhere between Steve Earle and Australian troubadour Rory Ellis. Crazier still is how this “Bloke from Basingstoke” makes himself sound like he is playing on the porch of a Mississippi swamp. Stevie has previously shared billing status with Status Quo, Jethro Tull, Dave Edmunds, Dr Feelgood, The Levellers, Martin Simpson and John Otway to name a few. “A cracking act to open the evening’s proceedings!”
