Michael Gove has written in support of the proposed plans
-
Michael Gove has supported the plans for a new football centre
-
Camberley Town FC Krooner Park Ground which will be replaced with a new 5 a-side football centre
-
Crabtree Park, where the new Camberley Town FC pitch and clubhouse will be relocated
for a new football centre to be built by Camberley Town Football Club on Crabtree Park.
In his letter dated 8th December he describes the plans as
“radically improving all the unsightly aspects of Crabtree Park” and believes
that the scheme will provide “huge benefits” for the youth of the borough,
local schools and to Camberley Town Youth Football Club enthusiasts; and that
residents, dog walkers and other visitors will enjoy “a Crabtree Park greatly
enhanced by new planting and regular maintenance”. A copy of the letter can be seen on the
Surrey Heath Borough Council website.
Camberley Town Football Club is planning to redevelop its Old Krooner Park site as a five a side football centre and
relocate its new pitch and new clubhouse to the adjacent Crabtree Park. There has been a campaign to save Crabtree Park organised by the Friends of
Crabtree Park. Both Camberley Town
Football Club and the Friends of Crabtree Park have put their case for and
against on this site and generated a lot of debate about the plans.
The application will go before the Planning Applications
Committee for consideration on Monday 7th February.

I don't understand his letter at all - what does he mean by "unsightly aspects"? I think it's quite a nice little park, walk through it a couple of times a week, and don't think it's unsightly at all - well - unless you count the broken bottles and beer cans left behind by the kids at the weekend :)
I wonder whether Mr Gove has ever been to the park. Maybe I should ask.............
