Bean Bag Seats at the Vue Cinema for Avatar

During the Christmas holiday we went to see Avatar at the Vue and decided to make use of the Orange Wednesday two for one promotion. The only problem was you had to buy the tickets at the cinema and all they had left were the bean bag seats at the very front, but we decided to give it a go.

Actually the bean bags are legless leather style armchairs (filled with beans I presume) that are set in pairs on the floor a few metres from the screen. They are surprisingly comfortable and spacious. You can stretch your legs our straight in front of you, and your back is well supported. There are secure places for your drinks between the seats, so there is no danger of knocking them over.

Being so close to the screen can be a bit weird especially with a 3D film, and you find yourself looking around the screen to try to see everything that is going on. The 3D in Avatar is quite well done so the effect was more realistic than gimmicky.

The only real downside to the seats was the proximity to the air conditioning vents and we got quite cold during the long film. Take a jacket and wear jeans if you plan to try them, at least at this time of year!
