Honor Blackman and Andrew Motion at Surrey Heath book festival 2013

JAMES Bond girl Honor Blackman and former poet laureate Andrew Motion are among the guests at this year's Surrey Heath Book Festival.

The festival returns for its third year between Friday 10 – Sunday 12 May 2013 at Camberley Theatre.

It will be opened on Friday 10 May at 7.30pm with a talk by the former poet laureate who will also answer questions from the audience about his writing and give a book signing.

Saturday will feature author events including a crime panel looking at The Funny Side of Crime, Sunday Times best-selling author S.J. Parris, Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine's Jim Bob and poet and comedian and performer John Hegley

Saturday also sees the return of The Big Read. This year's Big Read is 'Notwithstanding' by bestselling novelist Louis de Bernières. Notwithstanding is a collection of stories inspired by Louis's life growing up in Surrey and the author will join the panel alongside journalist Juliette Foster, Rt Hon Michael Gove MP and other guests to discuss the novel with the audience.

The Sunday sees a new addition to the Book Festival devoted to younger bookworms. The Family Festival runs from 10am – 12 noon featuring storytelling, games and arts and crafts. For the adults, fantasy author Ben Galley returns this year with another writing workshop where he'll share his tricks of the trade and give advice about self-publishing. This year's book festival will also shine a spotlight on local writing talent, this year is New Zealand born Surrey Heath Resident Murray Rowlands. Closing the festival is Honor Blackman performing her one woman show, Honor Blackman as Herself. Honor tells the story of her life from Avenger to Bond girl ***** Galore, the silver screen to the West End interspersed with songs, sketches and scenes. 

The festival has been produced in partnership with Camberley Waterstones and Surrey Libraries with events taking place at Camberley Theatre and Camberley Library.

Book lovers will want to purchase a festival ticket for just £16, which enables them to attend all events marked as a festival ticket event, whilst thanks to Surrey Heath Arts Council funding; Under 16's can go for free to appropriately marked events when accompanied by an adult.
