A FORMER Lightwater resident has been extradited back to Britain from Mexico to face a charge of conspiring to import cocaine.
Alan Sibley, 55, arrived at Heathrow Airport yesterday (Thursday 28 February) escorted by officers from Surrey Police's Serious Organised Crime Unit who had flown out to Mexico City earlier this week.
Mr Sibley will appear at Staines Magistrates Court later charged with conspiracy to import class A drugs and escaping from lawful custody in 2005.
Detective Inspector Ben Lee said: "This successful extradition follows months of hard work from a number of agencies and co-operation from the Mexican authorities.
"This case demonstrates Surrey Police's determination to trace those suspected of offences in the county, no matter where they are, and put them before the courts."
