On Friday 11th November, The Royal British Legion will be leading a two minute silence in Camberley Town Centre to mark Armistice Day. This will be held at 11.00am in Main Square, The Mall in Camberley. The firing of maroons will mark the start and the end of the silence.
Remembrance Sunday services will be held at churches across Surrey Heath on Sunday 13th November. The Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Tim Dodds will be attending a service at St Michael's Church in Camberley at 2.00pm. He will be accompanied by Surrey Heath Borough Council's Chief Executive Karen Whelan. Those wishing to attend are requested to arrive by 1.45pm.
Cllr Dodds will also be attending a remembrance service earlier in the day on Sunday, at The Church of St John the Baptist in Windlesham. This service will start at 10.55am.
Cllr Dodds said: "It is always with sadness that we remember the fallen at this time of year, but also with immense pride. We will never forget the brave men and women who fought for our country and the many thousands that sadly never made it home. Our borough heritage is closely aligned to that of our armed forces, and pleasingly continues to be so."
Surrey Heath's Deputy Mayor Councillor Bruce Mansell will also be attending several remembrance services on Sunday 13; one at All Saints Church, Lightwater which starts at 10.15am and the 3.00pm service at St Lawrence Church, Chobham.
The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be laying poppy wreaths at these services on behalf of Surrey Heath.
